Summary:
105 acres of property was purchased in 1981. It was then platted and
improved with sewer, water, roads, and a master drainage system. The
property was then divided into 5 different units, 2 of which were
developed by Saundry Associates, Inc., and the remaining 3 were sold to
separate companies. Hunters Creek (44 acres, developed in
1993) was a Deed Restricted, tree covered residential
neighborhood, and sold in single lots under predevelopment sales
commitment contracts between several quality production builders. Garretts
Run Condominium Apartments (12 acres, completed in 1985) was a 120 unit
complex. Each unit was 1,200 sq. ft., had 2 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths with
single floor villas and 2 floor townhomes. It had full recreational
amenities with tennis, swimming pool and spa, steam room, weight room, 2 indoor
air conditioned racquetball courts, and a clubhouse meeting room and management
office suite.
The other units sold as separate developments are as follows:
Charleston Place Apartments, 23.21 acres, sold in 1985. Sold to and
developed by Satter Companies. Developed a 232 unit, 2 and 3 bedroom
apartment community, with swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball, playground,
and recreation and management office building.
Meridian Healthcare, 7.4 acres, sold in 1988 through 1990. First class
provider of nursing and extended care, and operator of extended Adult Congregate
Living Facilities.
Sterling House, 5.4 acres, sold 1996 and 1997. Sterling House
Corporation constructed 2 lovely buildings for their Assisted Living
services. Sterling also purchased additional property from other sellers
in the same vicinity and constructed a seperate facility to serve residents with
Memory Disorders and Alzheimer's Diesease, starting in 1999.
